A conference featuring speaker Gregory P. Copenhaver, an associate professor in the Department of Biology & The Carolina Center for Genome Sciences at UNC-CH. His startup began as an academic science project looking at a fundamental biological mechanism, but transitioned into a commercial venture. Dr. Copenhaver will discuss the milestones that marked the path from the lab to successful start-up to profit-making company. In particular, he will focus on working with a technology transfer office to make invention disclosures and file founding intellectual property, securing venture investing, hiring and managing employees and a leadership team and evolving the company to capture market opportunities.
