Carolina Innovations Seminar Series: Health Security Funding Opportunities and Disruptive Technologies

Join the UNC Office of Technology Commercialization for our seminar on Thursday, Sept. 6, which is the first in our 2018-19 Carolina Innovations Seminar Series.

You’ll hear from Emil Runge, Program Manager for First Flight Venture Center’s new Health Security Accelerator. First Flight was selected as one of eight accelerators in the country by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to drive innovation in lifesaving medical technologies. Emil will discuss the program’s focus on solving some of the biggest national health security threats through the development of innovative technologies. You’ll learn about:

  • Non-dilutive early-stage innovation funding
  • Future equity funding possibilities

Emil will discuss the need to develop technologies and systems to catalyze research and commercialization in biodefense. The initial focus is on:

  • Solving Sepsis
  • Early Notification to Act, Control, and Treat (ENACT) infectious diseases
