UNC Comp Sci Distinguished Alumni Speaker Series: Matt Cutts

Google is a household name now, but it wasn’t always. Matt Cutts joined Google when it was still under 100 people. In his talk, Matt will discuss a few lessons and share some stories from when Google was a scrappy start-up.

Bio

Matt Cutts joined Google as a software engineer in January 2000. He is currently the head of Google’s Webspam team.

Before Google, Matt worked on his Ph.D. in computer graphics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He has an M.S. from UNC-Chapel Hill and B.S. degrees in both mathematics and computer science from the University of Kentucky.

Matt wrote the first version of SafeSearch, which is Google’s family filter, and he has worked on search quality and webspam at Google for the last several years.

Matt maintains a blog at www.mattcutts.com/blog/ and uses the Twitter handle @mattcutts.
