Kevin Bowles

Kevin Bowles is an Blackstone Entrepreneurs Network North Carolina entrepreneur-in-residence. He has more than 25 years of experience and success with entrepreneurial ventures, both nationally and internationally, in roles as a CEO, venture capitalist, consultant/advisor and educator. Bowles has proven the ability to craft a vision, develop a business plan, raise the capital, form the team and passionately lead the execution of the business model. He has achieved this model several times in a variety of sectors: technology, clean tech, energy, media, medical device, consumer products and education technology, resulting in two private financial exits.

Bowles currently sits on the advisory board of Lonerider Beer, a top five craft beer company in North Carolina. He is advising Lonerider on a growth strategy through partnerships as well as capital formation. Bowles also recently lead the sale of an energy technology company for $8 million to a Canadian-based energy company, and a Danish medical device company to a US-based medical device company for more than $1 million in cash and royalties. He is CEO/founder of Box Lunch Media, which sells nature-based media to the education/national parks market on a direct basis and through Discovery Education.

Bowles previously served in a variety of executive and operating roles. He was director of corporate strategic planning for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina; a venture capitalist at Cherokee Investments/Fairview Advisors; associate at Scott Madden; and an exploration geophysicist and a natural gas and gas storage marketer for Texaco USA (now Chevron). He earned an MBA from the UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School, a master’s degree in geology from Louisiana State University and a bachelor’s degree in geology from Washington and Lee University.
