Peyton Anderson

Entrepreneur-in-Residence, Blackstone Entrepreneurs Network

Peyton Anderson is a Blackstone Entrepreneurs Network North Carolina entrepreneur-in-residence. He is a serial entrepreneur who co-founded SciQuest, Inc. in 1995 as its founding CEO. SciQuest raised more than $175 million in capital, including a successful Initial Public Offering in 1999. His responsibilities included raising capital, recruiting the management team, doing strategic partner deals and orchestrating eight acquisitions. SciQuest continues to thrive and currently has more than 500 employees. In September 2003, Anderson co-founded Affinergy, where he remains the CEO. The 28-person company is developing diagnostic products and research tools in the orthopedic and soft tissue repair markets. Since 2003, Affinergy has secured more than $50 million from a combination of investor and non-dilutive sources.

Anderson currently serves as chair of the North Carolina Biosciences Organization and is on the board of directors of the North Carolina Biotechnology Center and Quantifize. Previously, he served on the executive committee of the Board of Directors for the Council for Entrepreneurial Development. Anderson enjoys helping entrepreneurial founders develop business plans, recruit senior advisors and navigate the startup financing process to secure grants, angel funding, strategic partnering deals and venture capital. He is also a frequent speaker at entrepreneurial conferences and MBA classes. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Richmond in 1989 and earned his MBA from the UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School in 1995.
