Professor of the Practice, Strategy and Entrepreneurship, UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School; Mentor, Launch Chapel Hill
Scott Albert, a venture capital and angel investor focused on technology investments, is also a professor of the practice at the UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School. He serves as a mentor at Launch Chapel Hill as well as for teams and student entrepreneurs at UNC-Chapel Hill. Albert brings more than 30 years of venture capital and operating experience to his teaching at the business school. His teaching interests include venture capital, fund raising for early-stage companies, entrepreneurship, growing and managing early-stage companies, and valuing small businesses.
He is also the co-founder of The Aurora Funds, Inc., a venture capital firm in the Research Triangle Park that focuses on seed and early-stage financings across a broad industry mix of technology and life sciences companies. Formed in 1994, Aurora manages nearly $250 million across five venture funds. Albert was the founding CEO of a healthcare services company and CEO of an Aurora portfolio company, Centice Corporation. He started his business career at Booz Allen and Hamilton as a management consultant.
Albert serves on the board of Entigral Systems, Inc. and has provided small business consulting to scores of companies. He received his MBA in finance from the University of Chicago and his bachelor’s degree in engineering from Duke University.
