Augmented and Virtual Reality in Education and Research

November 13, 2019 @ 11:30 am - 1:00 pm

Join UNC ARVR on Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in person at Room 214 A&B of Davis Library or via video at https://unc.zoom.us/j/951920232. Learn about the resources available to faculty on campus to help you in your learning and development of AR/VR. The floor will be open to others who wish to share or ask questions about XR on campus.

Dr. Lucia Binotti (Romance Studies), Dr. Ivonne Chirino-Klevans, (Kenan-Flagler), and Dr. Robert Hubal (Pharmacy), will be discussing Amarandi, the Virtual Survivor. This collaboration is a research and community outreach XR project, that brings together a transdisciplinary team to better serve a large panoply of stakeholders from scholars and students to local organizations and interpersonal violence survivors. Binotti, Chirino-Klevans, and Hubal will speak about how they came together to work on such an innovative, cross-functional project which highlights the intended purpose of the XR FLC.

The XR Faculty Learning Community at UNC Chapel Hill is a group of faculty members from many different disciplines who explore the use of immersive technologies such as Augmented and Virtual Reality for research and pedagogy. The group meets monthly and welcomes faculty from all disciplines.
