Dear Gillings School faculty members,

We are pleased to announce the 7th round of Gillings Innovation Labs (GILs)!

Funded by the $50 million Gillings gift, GILs engage in cutting-edge research, translation of interventions to high-impact settings, and development of novel technologies or methodologies for the improvement of public health, both locally and globally. GILs are innovative, interdisciplinary across the School and beyond, and strive to achieve fundamental breakthroughs in urgent, extremely important, public health issues.

Faculty members (both tenure- and non-tenure-track) who have primary appointments in the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health are eligible to apply. All project teams are encouraged to include students and collaborators in other Gillings departments, UNC-Chapel Hill schools, or academic institutions; community organizations; and/or businesses.

We expect to fund 3 projects of up to $200,000 each.  Additional information is available online.  If you have questions, please contact solutions@unc.edu

Two-page short proposals are due Friday March 6, 2020.  Short proposals will be reviewed in March and April, and based on those reviews, a subset of applicants will be invited to submit full proposals due by mid-July 2020.  Applicants will be notified of funding decisions in September 2020.
