The UNC graduate women in computer science (GWiCS) group is currently planning the 6th Annual Women in Computing Research Symposium and we want to continue to include participants from other universities and computing-related departments. This year we are holding a virtual research symposium on Thursday, April 2.
Our goal with the symposium is to introduce undergraduate students to various research areas and encourage students, especially women, to explore the opportunities they have for doing research, whether as part of their undergraduate curriculum or by pursuing a graduate degree. We also want to offer a space for graduate students to share their experiences and their research and to become more familiar with the work their peers are doing.
This year our keynote speaker is Dr. Snidgha Chaturvedi whose research interest is in natural language processing (NLP). We’ll also have multiple breakout sessions introducing other Computer Science research areas.
