Come to the IoT Design Challenge sponsored by The Research Triangle Park, IBM, TiE Carolinas, BKon to learn how to build IoT applications, and form a team to compete for the grand prize.   You do not need to be developers to join the challenge – we’ll show you how to build an IoT application without writing code.

Internet of Things (IoT) is one of  the fastest growing markets today.  According to IDC, IoT technologies and services are expected to generate global revenue of $8.9 trillion by 2020.   The venture capital ecosystem has been in high gear, placing over $1B in bets to help fuel the Internet of Things (IoT) by funding entrepreneurs who are pulling together a diverse set of technologies from cloud, mobile, big data & analytics, and machine learning, delivered as a service through exciting new business models.  There are a lot of opportunities for designers, developers and Technology entrepreneurs to innovate and monetize in the IoT market.  We want to invite the talents in RTP to bring their ideas and team up with others who brings complementary skills to help the team compete in the Challenge.

The Design Challenge

How does it work? Sign up for the Design Challenge by filling out the registration form below.   Attend all three sessions outlined in the Event Schedule below to receive the Design Challenge information and design tools.   We’ll give you instruction on how to use the tools to build the IoT application during the Design Workshop.  Your team have 4 weeks to develop the application and submit it online to join the  Demo Day to demo your application.  Detailed contest information will be provided during the kickoff session….  you can form your team before the kickoff or during the kickoff session..

Learn how to design your IoT App. We will have subject matter experts instruct you on how to use the tools. IBM engineers will be there to mentor participating teams. Attending the workshop is a requirement to participate in the Challenge

Dec 12: Demo Day and Award Ceremony  (9:00AM-12:00PM)

The Frontiers @800 Park Offices Dr, Morrisville, NC 27560 Directions

A winning team will be chosen by the Judges and we will also have participants vote for a favoriate app. Invite your friends to the Demo Day to cheer for you.
