Chapel Hill, N.C. (April 6, 2020) – A panel of experts convened by UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School and its affiliated Kenan Institute of Private Enterprise will be offering a press briefing via webinar on the myriad ways the entrepreneurial community is driving innovation and delivering stories of hope in the face of COVID-19. Join tomorrow, Tuesday, April 7, at 11 a.m. EDT to hear from the following experts:

UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School Professor Mahka Moeen will discuss how changes in supply and demand during the COVID-19 crisis may spawn innovations that have a broad and permanent global impact.

Entrepreneurship Center Faculty Director and UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School Professor Ted Zoller will discuss what public institutions—and UNC in particular—are doing to train future generations of entrepreneurial students to respond to this and other future crises amid an increasingly uncertain world.

Diana Lee, a Pharm.D. candidate at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy and a 2019 Adams Apprentice through UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School, will discuss the now-viral Phone-a-Friend program she developed and launched in response to mandated quarantines to connect student volunteers with the most vulnerable and isolated population affected – the elderly.

And UNC Professor Rich Superfine, chair of the university’s applied physical sciences department, will share how he’s building cross-functional teams at UNC to leverage makerspaces as PPE production facilities for healthcare workers on the front lines. Each expert will provide a brief overview of his or her respective topic, citing applicable emerging research and data, before the floor is opened for questions from the press.
