Meet Cheyenne Derosiers

Q & A

If you were a superhero, what would your superpower be and why?

My power would be the ability to make everything go smoothly. I am a huge planner, and I like to make sure that for whatever event or occasion I’m a part of, that everything is ready to go.

what does innovation mean to you?

To me, innovation is much more than the basic textbook definition of creating a new idea or project. I think innovation is a creative process in which people seek out solutions or tools to increase the quality of life for others. Innovation requires both rational and creative minds to go beyond all that our world has to offer to develop a new method or way of living our lives.

what is the best piece of advice you’ve been given and why?

It’s kind of basic, but to get out of my comfort zone. Since I started taking the advice to heart, I’ve done things I never would have before like joining the cheerleading squad at my school for fun, going zip-lining in Puerto Rico, and snorkeling. I had always been afraid to snorkel because I didn’t want to encounter a shark, so naturally, I saw a shark the first time I tried it.

Tell Us about your hometown…

I’m from Weston, Florida, which is near Fort Lauderdale. My community was mainly Hispanic and Jewish, which has such a different culture than Chapel Hill. I went to a large high school with 5,000 kids, and I was in many extracurriculars to meet new people.

What is the nerdiest thing you

do in your free time?

The nerdiest thing I do in my free time is probably reading tons of books or using my elaborate planner to organize all of my activities for the week or month.
