Honors Seminar in DC

The semester-long program offers students first-hand engagement with the actors and organizations that influence domestic and global affairs in Washington, D.C. It aims to expose students to a range of topics that focus on U.S. economic prosperity, national security, and the U.S. role in the broader global community.

Public Policy Majors’ Union

The Public Policy Majors’ Union (PPMU) was founded in 1988 in an effort to help govern the department’s curriculum. The PPMU conducts policy teas with guest speakers, lectures, skill workshops, career and internship events, and social functions. Membership is open to all public policy majors.

The Kenan Biddle Partnership

The Kenan-Biddle Partnership, funded by the William R. Kenan Charitable Trust and The Mary Duke Biddle Foundation, offers $5,000 grants to accepted project proposals that enhance the intellectual life at both universities by strengthening established or encouraging new collaborations.

The Carolina Forum

The annual Carolina Forum hosts leaders in policy and politics, higher education, and the private and non-profit sector. The Forum provides an opportunity for students to evaluate the debate surrounding complex policy problems and to enhance their ability to reason through competing arguments.

Policy Research Group

The Policy Research Group (PRG) is a bi-monthly, interdisciplinary working group for scholars to present and solicit feedback on current research relevant to public policy. The presentations may be on research at different stages of completion.

The UNC Roosevelt Institute

The UNC Roosevelt Institute is a student-run think tank. It is a place for UNC students to discuss community issues and formulate responses to them. Roosevelt also provides a platform for students to find a broader audience for ideas they care about.
