App Lab @ UNC
The App Lab is where UNC students can learn how to build web and mobile applications, run by UNC Computer Science Professor of the Practice Dr. Jeff Terrell. It’s in Room 027 of Sitterson Hall, and it’s open weekday afternoons (normally, but see note below). You can view the full schedule. You can learn more about the App Lab. BeAM@CAROLINA is a network of makerspaces where any UNC student, staff, or faculty member can join the UNC maker community in the design and creation of physical objects for education, research, entrepreneurship, and recreation. Makers can participate in open studios, training sessions, workshops, hosted classes, and group activities. Enjoy spaces equipped with emerging technologies like 3D printing and laser cutting, along with areas dedicated to sewing and woodworking.

Geographic Information Systems @ UNC
The UNC Library system offers a range of free GIS and data visualization services, such as assistance from a GIS expert, spatial data web sources, GIS software, tutorials on creating shapefiles, historic aerial photos of NC, and georeferenced historical maps. You can access these resources online or in the Research Hub on the second floor of Davis Library.

Serious Games Course
Taught by professor Diane Pozefsky, Serious Games is taught as four different courses: COMP 585, COMP 585H, COMP 185H and COMP 790-093. This course is intended as a broad introduction to the field of serious games by looking at a number of examples of existing serious games in order to learn through case studies. The focus will be on game design but will also look at development issues. The course will explore both serious game design and development and how the components of games may be applicable to other areas.

Canva is a graphic design platform, used to create social media graphics, presentations, posters, documents and other visual content. The app already includes templates for users to use.

Balsamiq Mockups is a rapid wireframing tool that aims to reproduce the experience of sketching on a whiteboard, but using a computer. It’s fast and easy wireframing.

Crazy Egg
Crazy Egg is a tool for evaluating website engagement. It creates heatmaps and scrollmaps that clue you in to customer interest and disengagement points.
