Adam Kunesh

Undergraduate Researcher, UNC Nano-Optical Materials Lab

Adam Kunesh is an undergraduate student who is a researcher at UNC’s Nano-Optical Materials Lab. As part of his research, he fabricated and characterized many biomimetric nano-optical structures to develop the field of tunable color. Through traditional photolithographic methods, these nanostructures can be produced on large-scale (1 cm+) surfaces. Kunesh implemented a novel direct exposure setup, which involves hands-on construction and part tailoring, from-scratch software development, and extensive troubleshooting. He has presented his work at the annual ACC Meeting of the Minds and at the UNC Celebration of Undergraduate Research. He is also among the founding members of Carolina’s maker network MakNet.
