Employer Neurodiversity Toolkit to Support Employees with Autism

Using a human-centered design approach, we are developing an online employer training program (i.e., a neurodiversity toolkit) to create an innovative model of autism employment supports. The goal of this toolkit is to ‘flip’ the current clinical services model (in which external agencies provide employment supports) to a human resources neurodiversity model (in which employers provide onsite supports for the unique strengths and challenges experienced by employees with autism). This project is a partnership between UNC faculty with expertise in autism research, clinical services, and business entrepreneurship and community employers dedicated to the benefits of hiring a neurodiverse workforce.
