Special Assistant to the Vice Chancellor, UNC Office of Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Economic Development
Matthew LaBarbera joined the office in 2019 as special assistant to Judith Cone, vice chancellor for innovation, entrepreneurship and economic development. In this role, he supports and tracks a variety of special projects. Previously, Matthew was an assistant to Dr. William Ferris, then senior associate director of the UNC Center for the Study of the American South. While there, he was the associate curator on an exhibition of Civil Rights era photography. Matthew holds bachelor’s degrees in English literature from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and from the National University of Singapore.
