September Seminar – Not What I Planned: Experiences in the Business of Science

When you tell people you’re a pathologist, everyone asks if you’re like Quincy (if they’re over 50) or a CSI (if they’re younger). But Dr. Lai-Goldman’s career in pathology has taken her on a different journey. After Joining Roche Biomedical Laboratories (now LabCorp) in 1990, she embarked on a career that allowed her to combine science, medicine, and business in a completely unplanned manner. Today Dr. Lai-Goldman is CEO of a Lineberger Cancer Center start-up, GeneCentric Therapeutics, and a Venture Partner at Hatteras Venture Partners.

Join her for this discussion session to learn about her journey, how to navigate the unexpected turns involved in the business of science and ways to apply her insights to your own scientific endeavors.
