Carolina Innovations Seminar presents Open Innovation with Eastman: New Models for Intersectional Ideas, Partnerships and Collaboration. This month’s presentation, with Dr. Stewart Witzeman and Dr. David Norman, is about Eastman Chemical Company and the Eastman Innovation Center. The presentation will include an overview of Eastman Chemical Company and the role of Open Innovation in Eastman’s overall innovation strategy. Highlights on the mechanics of how Eastman is building connections with academic researchers, lessons learned and plans for the future will also be provided.
Eastman Chemical Company has initiated multiyear multimillion dollar Open Innovation partnerships with North Carolina State University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In addition to funding cutting edge research projects at these universities, Eastman has established a physical presence on the NCSU campus in a collaboration space called the âEastman Innovation Centerâ. Staffed by experienced Eastman managers and scientists, the EIC provides a unique capability for executing an engagement strategy between Eastman subject matter experts, university faculty and students.
