More than 60 UNC-Chapel Hill innovators and ventures are slated to present at the 2020 UNC Innovation Showcaseon April 9. Hosted by Innovate Carolina, the showcase celebrates the work of faculty, students, alumni and local business founders who have combined ingenuity and hard work to make the greatest human and economic impact possible.

Each week leading up to the showcase, we’ll give you a snapshot of each of the four presentation and exhibit tracks: Human Health; Life Science; Social, Environment and Education; and Tech and Consumer.

This week, we take a look at the Social, Environment and Education category, which features 28 startups and ventures, including pitch presentations and exhibits by Carolina students, faculty, alumni and local entrepreneurs who are make communities across North Carolina and around the world safer, cleaner and healthier.

— The ABC’s of School Re-entry meets the psychosocial and emotional needs of pediatric oncology patients as they re-enter the school system.

— B3 Coffeeis a pop-up coffee stand that helps people of all abilities form friendships, develop marketable skills and connect with the community.

— Durham Volunteer Doulas provides affordable, accessible and high-quality doula care to those who could not otherwise afford it. 

— Equity Foodsis a line of healthy frozen meals called Good Bowls that address food system inequities in America.

— Sandbar Oyster Company offers biodegradable hardscapes to better restore critical estuarine habitats, primarily oysters and tidal marsh plant communities.
