The Meantime Coffee Co., Chapel Hill’s only student-run, nonprofit café, will open a second location at the Innovate Carolina Junction on November 8, 2024. The new café, Meantime at the Junction, aims to expand the company’s impact in Chapel Hill, building on their legacy of empowering UNC-Chapel Hill students and donating $50,000 annually to the Carolina community.
Meantime at the Junction will be located inside the Innovate Carolina Junction and will offer the same sustainable, locally sourced products as the flagship Campus Y location, partnering with Carrboro Coffee Roasters and other small businesses to provide ethical and affordable drink options to the wider Chapel Hill community.
“We are thrilled to welcome The Meantime Coffee Co. to the Junction,” says Sheryl Waddell, Director of Economic Development and Innovation Hubs at Innovate Carolina. “Having the Meantime at the Junction coffee shop within our innovation hub aligns seamlessly with our mission to foster collaboration and community. It’s a space where ideas ignite over a casual cup of coffee, relationships grow, and our members discover both inspiration and connection. Meantime at the Junction embodies the spirit of our hub as a welcoming place where innovation can truly thrive.”
Since opening its doors in September 2023, the Innovate Carolina Junction has quickly become a bustling innovation hub and co-working space in downtown Chapel Hill. The Junction serves as a vital intersection between campus and community, offering not only a workspace — but a thriving environment where innovators can access the resources, entrepreneurial services, and connections they need to transform their ideas and inventions into new technologies, products, services and companies.
