Benjamin McMichael

Benjamin McMichael is a second-year PhD student in the Quantitative Biology Program at UNC studying computational and molecular biology. He uses Drosophila melanogaster (the fruit fly) in his research as a model to investigate the interplay between RNA and histone biology. He is intrigued by the boundless opportunity created by molecular biology start-ups and their potential impact on the life sciences. He plans to use his interdisciplinary scientific training to contribute to the development of breakthrough biomedical treatments and cures for various diseases. Having previous experience in both academia and government positions, he is thrilled for the opportunity to develop his business acumen and entrepreneurial skills as a Venture Catalyst Fellow.
