Carmen Melvin, JD
Carmen Melvin joined the office in 2016 as a fellow before becoming a Licensing Manager the following year. In her current role as Senior Licensing Manager, Carmen manages and markets a portfolio of research tools, negotiates material transfer agreements (MTAs) and confidentiality agreements (CDAs), and trains the current licensing fellow.
Before that, she was a student at UNC School of Law focusing her studies on intellectual property law and interning at various university offices, including Clinical Contract Services within the Duke University Health System and the technology transfer offices at North Carolina State University and UNC-Charlotte. Carmen is a registered patent attorney and a member of the North Carolina State Bar, Association of University Technology Managers, and Licensing Executives Society. Prior to earning her J.D., Carmen graduated with a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences in 2012 from NC State.
