Jiali Zhu

Jiali is a fourth-year Ph.D. student in the Bioinformatics and Computational Biology program. For her research, she is trying to understand the “active nature” of cellular organelle: how they can self-assemble and self-repair, employing both super- resolution localization microscopy and computational modeling to study the mitotic spindle. She is interested in the ecology sector of the biotechnology world and fascinated with wired aquatic and marine organisms whose ecological significances are just starting to be revealed. Jiali believes a comprehensive understanding of these organisms can lead to a potential solution for outstanding climate issues. She is also involved in the Carolina Graduate Consulting Group and other student organizations that aim to help professional students with their business ambitions
