Doctoral Student, Epidemiology Department, Gillings School of Global Public Health

Katherine Gora Combs is a doctoral student in Epidemiology at the Gillings School of Global Public Health. Her current research interests focus on maximizing the intersection of research, policy, and practice to address substance use including opioids and alcohol. She is also passionate about improving the communication of injury and violence research to policymakers and the public. Katherine hopes that the CIPG experience will provide exposure to innovative methods in human-centered design and systems thinking that can be applied to study substance use outcomes. In addition to her studies and research, Katherine enjoys attending concerts of all genres, exploring new restaurants, and going to sporting events (Go Heels!).
