Macie Rush

Design Thinking Fellow, Innovate Carolina; MPH Candidate, Gillings School of Global Public Health, Department of Health Behavior

Macie serves as the design thinking fellow at Innovate Carolina, where she drafts and contributes to ongoing design strategy. She also plans and facilities design thinking trainings for faculty, staff and students on campus. Macie is pursuing her masters of public health degree with a concentration in health behavior. She is interested in place-based determinants of health and how human-centered design can help public health practitioners and researchers: 1) ask better questions when thinking about built environments and complex problems and, 2) include people who are traditionally left out in the design of social programs. She is currently working on research that lies at the intersection of gendered and alcohol-related violence and policy change. Outside of work, you can find her walking her dog, riding her bike around Carrboro or talking about wanting to read more.
