Selin received a BSc in genetics and bioinformatics. After her graduation she worked as a researcher at Yale University, studying the molecular mechanisms that drive brain tumor formation. She is currently a PhD candidate in the Pharmacology department at UNC-Chapel Hill. Her research projects mainly focus on prevention of tau aggregates in early-stage Alzheimer’s Disease and elucidating the role of mutations that cause spinocerebellar ataxia type 48. As a researcher, Selin understands the drug discovery efforts and timeline. As a Venture Catalyst Fellow, she is looking forward to acquiring vital skills that help address the challenges startups face during their journey of translating the research into the market.
