Sriram Ravindran

Sriram joined the UNC Computational Medicine Program as the first Postdoc in the Rau Lab in 2022. He has a Ph.D. in Myocardial Ischemia-Reperfusion injury and began his graduate career in 2013 working with Prof. Gino A. Kurian in establishing the Vascular Biology Lab to investigate cardiac Mitochondria better known as the ‘Powerhouse of Cells’. He also has a post-baccalaureate degree in Pharmacology and worked as a Research Scientist at ADVINUS Therapeutics. At Rau Lab, he is integrating his bench knowledge with dry lab to investigate the complex etiology of heart failure by studying the genetic codes that are miscued to progress the diseases. He is a firm believer that the best approach to bring science closer to society is via collaboration and teamwork. As a Venture Catalyst Program Fellow, he is interested in building critical skills for business beyond research and realize his long-term goal of being a founder and consultant for spinoffs.
