Innovate Carolina hosts a variety of events that give you opportunities to convene, collaborate and experience innovation and entrepreneurship in ways you never expected.
Carolina Startup Connect
For both students and startup leaders, Carolina Startup Connect builds relationships among intern-seeking ventures and talented college students in central North Carolina. This event experience gives both students and local startup companies the chance to network, share mutual professional goals and experiences, and explore internship and skill-building opportunities together.
Carolina innovations seminar series
The Carolina Innovations Seminar is your chance to connect with other faculty and students at UNC, hear from industry experts and make connections with other innovators who can help you push your ideas to their inventive edge. At this seminar series, which takes place monthly during the academic year, you’ll hear from a lineup of distinguished guest speakers who are experts in a wide range of topics: innovation, commercializing research and launching startup companies. Following the presentations, you’re invited to join us for a reception, where you can network with others and enjoy heavy hors d’oeuvres from Top of the Hill Restaurant & Brewery.
Innovation Showcase
Attend the Innovation Showcase hosted by Innovate Carolina and you’ll meet the most enterprising faculty, student and alumni innovators from UNC-Chapel Hill. These top student, faculty and alumni teams will pitch their latest innovations and ideas for commercial and social ventures. For the venture teams, this is a chance to pitch to investors, make connections and spark interest in their ideas. For attendees in the investment and entrepreneurial communities, it’s an opportunity to visit multiple pitch sessions and learn about a variety of ideas that have breakthrough potential.
Faculty Entrepreneurship Workshop
This invitation-only event is open to a select group of UNC-Chapel Hill faculty who receive a nomination from their dean and an invitation from the Chancellor. More than 200 faculty leaders have graduated from this workshop since 2009. Many of these workshop alumni have used the knowledge and skills gained to accelerate innovation projects and launch new centers, nonprofits and startup ventures. If nominated to attend, you’ll dive deep into the theory and practice of entrepreneurship, working side by side with faculty peers and experts. As you collaborate with colleagues from across the University, workshop leaders will help you hone and advance your ideas into action.
