The Universities Libraries and Department of Geography will be celebrating GeoWeek on GIS Day! GIS stands for geographic information system which is designed to capture, analyze, and present spatial and geographic data.
The event will kick off at the Davis Library Research Hub with refreshments and a student map competition. Everyone will have a chance to vote on the best maps and the top three will recieve prizes! More information about rules and how to enter the competition can be found here.
Following the map competition will be a student-led humanitarian mapathon. Students will be combining their mapping efforts to provide geospatial data to areas in crisis to help local governments and relief workers. Beginners are welcome and a short demonstration will be provided! More information can be found here
